Architects 'increasingly expected to design sustainable properties'
Professionals looking to design sustainable properties are increasingly using architects to address the problem.
According to the Royal Institute of British Architects, the profession is responsible for approximately 45 per cent of emissions in the UK and has a key role in businesses looking to reduce their environmental impact.
It claims that the vast majority of architects are aware of the problems affecting building design, taking actions to minimise these.
Last year, GreenMoves managing director Julian Brooks predicted that the market's adoption of eco-friendly architecture would be slow but steady.
He said: "We are starting to see more architects addressing these issues."
Mr Brooks revealed that a number of studies had shown a strong consumer interest in the roll-out of sustainable properties but acknowledged there was not enough evidence to make a strong series of predictions.
At the time, the National House-Building Council conducted research that found 58 per cent of builders did not believe prices would increase for zero-carbon homes.
